A classic small cabinet sized pegmatite combination piece from the Jack Rabbit Mine in Colorado, this has AMAZING intense and saturated hot colored amazonite contrasted against white and lack matrix. This great display piece features at least twenty, vibrantly colorful and fairly lustrous, blue-green Amazonite crystals from 0.5 to 1.5 cm in size associated with with at least a dozen, 0.5 to 2 cm lustrous Smoky Quartz crystals with great terminations that provide great contrast. All of the Amazonite crystals are in pristine condition save a couple on the periphery. The matrix is an off-white and medium gray Feldspar and Quartz graphic granite that supplies additional color and texture. The Pegmatites near the Crystal Peak area of Colorado have produced some very fine Amazonite specimens such as this one. This was self collected in the 1980's by Rock with his predeceased friend and collecting buddy Bob Bartsch. Bob is often credited with discovering the pocket (and certainly between them, they kept all the best). Rock noted that they dug .624 tons of Amazonite and Smoky Quartz and a few other specimens during a 6 week stretch that summer. Remarkably, this has no repairs.
