Herkimer diamonds are usually all one shape, more or less - hence the nickname! However, rarely, you get scepters. And, more rarely still, you get these strange, highly sought after, phantom scepters with a dark smoky quartz core, with the classic sharp gem Herkimer Quartz perched atop. This is perhaps 1 pocket in 200 or less, found. This is a gorgeous miniature. It is a floater, complete all around, even the bottom. It has no damage save a tiny inconsequential ding on the back of the tip. It is from the famous personal collection of Herkimer Quartz of former Harvard Museum curator, Bill Metropolis. His note says it was found in 1979.
