Here is a visually distinct specimen of Swiss Amethyst showing a sceptered habit on a pair of tandem Quartz crystals. Smoky Quartz occurrences distinctly overshadow Amethyst localities in the Swiss Alps. Two large, stout, pale Smoky Quartz crystals are in parallel growth and both have very pronounced medium purple Amethyst sceptered terminations. The crystals and their sceptered terminations reach 7.5 and 7 cm in length, respectively, and there are several smaller, 1.3 to 3 cm Quartz crystals around the base of the pair. This is a rare Amethyst scepter from the Swiss Alps most likely purchased by Brent from the Swiss dealership Siber & Siber, and likely old material. Amethyst is, for reasons probably relating to a lack of iron in the rocks, rare in Switzerland compared to colorless and Smoky Quartz, making them hard to find for a collection.
