Sawtooth Mountains in Idaho produced some of the finest aquamarines ever found in the USA, gram for gram, but crystals of this caliber were generally from the late 1970s and early 1980s, long ago and far from the market these days. Although we cannot say for sure this came from the legendary collector Geary Murdock, as did several others in this update and this collection, it IS similar to material known to have been found and sold by him in the past. It looks like material from that era. It is a stunning gem crystal with saturated color unusual in a crystal of this size. It has internal veils which are actually interesting in person (the camera makes them look uglier than the human eye sees them). It has an internal brightness to it! Superb example for this American locality district, at 9 grams and complete all around.
