Mined in a surprise recent discovery of 2019 that we nicknamed "the gem pocket," this was probably the best (at least the best I know of) of the crystal clear, glassy, perfect crystals found on matrix at that time. Truly GEM aquamarines from China, with such clarity and glassiness, have not really been seen since the late 1990s and this would give even those old classics a run for the money. It is gorgeous, transparent, and pristine. You can look right through the crystal to the muscovite blades underneath. The crystal measures 4 cm across, 1.7 cm thick, and is complete all around. Lastly, it is on a perfectly balanced and trimmed matrix of muscovite for display, making it among the finer small cabinet aquamarines from China. The crystal shape itself on these Chinese blue beryls, oddly, looks like the form of morganites (pink beryls) from most worldwide beryl localities. Why that would be, I have never understood. But they really do look like "blue morganites" so to speak. This was pried out of a dealer's private collection on one of my own trips to China, and I was happy to have it. It is simply stunning, above the others from other pockets.
