Fano Mine produced, rarely, some surprising and fine quality elongated aquamarines in the County. This was the only mine with good elongated crystals reminiscent of Pakistani or Brazilian material, in fact. This crystal has bands in the top, deeper blue, that are actually more similar to some old Russian material in that regard... a mix of qualities that indicates somewhere unusual. It has great San Diego County provenance, from the Bill Larson collection of San Diego minerals, and then shifted into his company's beryl case for decades. Approx 20 grams and without repairs. From before the 1970s, probably old finds from the 1950s. This comes with an old laminate-style label from the original collection showcase in the Pala Intl store exhibit, built in the early 1970s by Ed Swoboda and Peter Bancroft.
