A classic of Mexico, these old rhodochrosites are seldom seen for sale, let alone in such large and aesthetic specimens. This small cabinet piece has a good horizon, showing elongated scalenohedral crystals with rhombic termination modifications, to 1 cm. Although there is minor damage to a few crystals, it is over 90 percent complete, and the small damages are not visible from a distance in any case. For the size and rare locality, I can accept small damage on such a piece. This has been in Jack's collection for over 20 years, and is the first time anybody had a chance for such a large specimen of this classic Mexican material that I can recall, since I got the Miguel Romero collection in 2007.
