Here is a large and luscious, glassy, transparent, rich red-pink Rhodochrosite crystal from the Sweet Home Mine, one of the ultimate localities for the species. This phenomenal crystal measures 2.8 cm across the diagonal and 1.4 cm in thickness. The crystal is completely transparent except for a slightly turbid area on one side and erupts with color even without backlighting! The bounding faces and edges of the rhombohedron are very well formed and have exceptional luster. The Rhodochrosite sits on a small knob of bright, gunmetal gray Tetrahedrite for perfect contrast, composition and ultimate aesthetics. This has the special combination of color, sharpness, clarity, gemminess, and overall "vibrance" that immediately identifies it as a piece from the most famous pocket, the Good Luck Pocket in the mid 1990s. This is as good as it gets for a small miniature/toenail. Also, this pocket produced few smaller pieces, and mostly was known for large examples, making a thumbnail or miniature sized specimen almost impossible to obtain - especially today, decades later. This is a little jewel, and in person is much more mesmerizing than a photo can convey. Please be sure to watch the video, although even there, the saturated red color is almost impossible to capture. This has the BEST "Good Luck Pocket" quality and color, but that alone is not enough - it is the overall aesthetics that take it to another level.
