One of the largest possible thumbnail crystals that is able to fit in a TN display box, for this famous habit of South African rhodochrosite, which came out in around 1980. It has both size and color, and also gemminess, going for it. It has a small wreath of accessory crystals at the base that make it more than just another single, which you see for sale from time to time, and thus it stands out as a bit higher level compared to most thumbnail examples of this habit. Stunning, in person. These look best in minimal light, by the way, and particularly nice in room fluorescent light.
