- Badel (Budel) emerald mine, Nangarhar (Ningarhar) Province, Afghanistan
- Small Cabinet, 6.0 x 5.0 x 1.8 cm
This is one of the oldest and most significant Emerald mines in the world. This area has been mined for Emerald specimens for approximately 1000 years. This piece features somewhat translucent, rich emerald green color, "stubby" crystals of Emerald on schist matrix. The crystals are somewhat gemmy in areas, and are reasonably attractive when viewed close up.
