There is still debate about what to actually properly call these strange shaped aquamarine/beryls from Afghanistan. Science, and collectors, seem to still disagree on whether they are aquamarine, beryl that is not aquamarine, or we should simply call them alkali-rich beryls...of even a new species (they were once also briefly labelled as Vorobyevite when they came out). No matter, they are interesting and beautiful! This is an unusually large, complete all around, perfect crystal of this material.
