CONNOISSEUR THUMBNAILS from the competition and exhibit collection of Kyle Kevorkian, featuring many pieces inherited from the American Beauties suite of Jim Houran and others. In particular, this update emphasizes the remarkable quality of some USA-origin thumbnail specimens, as both the Houran and Kevorkian collections had a large focus on this theme. The United States boasts a wide variety of beautiful and rare mineral species and geological material, but sadly many collecting sites and mines are becoming increasingly restricted to hobbyists. Other localities are long defunct. Therefore, this collection aims to preserve and exhibit American minerals at a high level of development for their reference and aesthetic value. Also included are noteworthy “associations” -- specimens with two or more crystallized species occurring together and showing an aesthetic juxtaposition of colors, forms or textures.
