Note that this is a rare example of the apatite variety hydroxylapatite, not the more common fluorapatite. This specimen has a tower of sharp white crystals, 1.6 cm tall, standing up on a shard of albite. This is an old classic find from the old 1959 tunnel, 153 foot level, and was collected by Eric Greene. It then passed to Ernie Schlichter for his remarkable suite of East Coast thumbnail specimens; and later to Tom Moore, and finally to Kyle Kevorkian for his American thumbnail suite. Complete all around.
