Here is another gorgeous and historic Peruvian rhodochrosite cluster of cherry-red, superbly-displayed, completely terminated crystals, also from the Jack Halpern collection (a suite of such historic specimens is available in this update). There are four larger, colorful crystals to one-inch accompanied by a few smaller ones, all having great color, luster and good translucency. It is an elongated cluster composed of complex "shield style" rhombohedrons, some showing low-profile, geometric growth hillocks on some faces. The crystals are largely translucent with some nearly transparent areas around their edges, especially on the largest crystal. It is a very attractive miniature from finds at Uchucchacua in the early 1990s. Purchased by Jack Halpern from Ken Roberts when it came out, and in the collection for nearly 30 years since, this is a very rare and old style to come to market now.
