Galena specimens from this iron mine are a German classics, and you can see why. TEXTBOOK shapes! Superb and numerous, the modified cuboctahedrons of Galena have great form, luster, and are in excellent condition. The largest crystal is a full 2.5 cm across. Spread out across the drusy Quartz matrix, the Galenas are interspersed with many small Marcasites. Old-time specimens of this quality are seldom available from Pfannenberg, which closed in 1962. #3944 in Kay's collection, she acquired this from Al McGuinness, probably in the 1960s. A large, cabinet specimen of rare modern aesthetic quality from this ancient mining region.
