Sparkling drusy Quartz completely covers an aesthetic arrangement of bright green Malachite rosettes on a contrasting sky-blue coating of Chrysocolla, making for a very attractive large thumbnail or small miniature sized specimen. The mystery of this piece is revealed on the underside where it shows that the Chrysocolla is covering bladed crystals that represent pseudomorphs of Malachite after Azurite up to 2.3 cm in size. So, we have chrysocolla on top of and partially replacing malachite, that had itself replaced azurite - a double replacement! This happens time to time in other locations as well, but what really sets this recent find (2019-on) apart, as they come out in a trickle of pockets, is the sprinkling of sugary quartz atop that gives them sparkle. This is not a large specimen, but it is of finest quality, with a special look to it.
