Morganites from San Diego County are California and USA classics, and were mined by Norm Dawson and his family from the late 1950s to early 1970s. This is a fine, sharp (2.6 cm across) example of a gemmy Morganite crystal nicely set on a matrix of Albite and Quartz, with Montmorillonite. The termination is silky while the prism faces are glassy and clear. A good example of a classic, quality, and uncommon White Queen Morganite. Kay traded this to Norm, who would have collected it from his own mine, in 1962 for a German stephanite and other minerals from her collection.
