Pyromorphite
Bunker Hill Mine, Kellogg, Shoshone Co., Idaho, USA
Miniature, 4.2 x 4.0 x 2.1 cm
SOLD
Aesthetically perched high on their matrix are several hoppered crystals of lustrous and translucent, yellowish pyromorphite, to 2.2 cm in length. The largest crystal also exhibits an exquisite bent form. From the most famous, spectacular late-1980s find here (which produced the world's best yellow pyromorphite in any case!). This is a classic specimen from this now-closed mine, in a superb quality for its size class: A competition quality miniature! The dominant crystal and the pure intense color really make the piece special. This piece, as a bonus, displays equally well from either side. From the miniatures collection of Ken Rippere, who bought this from the source at the time they came out.
