- Les Farges Mine, Ussel, Correze, France
- Thumbnail, 1.8 x 1.4 x 1.2 cm
- Ex. Ernest Schlichter
A stunning and three-dimensional thumbnail that exhibits all the top characteristics a Les Farges specimen should have: splayed, lustrous, and waxy translucent crystals to 1 cm in length, and great forest green color typical of the best pocket of the late 1970s. This is nearly pristine, with just a few tiny dings amidst the peripheral crystals at the bottom and otherwise is complete and 360 degrees, all around. It is not big, but it does have a presence. Seldom do you see material from this pocket for sale, at all. This came to Shields via the well-known East Coast thumbnail specialist Ernie Schlicter. Ernie was Shields Flynn's friend and thumbnail mentor/competitor and passed on 300 of his favorite core specimens to Shields for this collection.
