Beryl, Albite, Muscovite
Mt Xuebaoding, Pingwu Co., Mianyang Prefecture, Sichuan Province, China
Small Cabinet, 6.4 x 4.5 x 2.8 cm
Clear beryls such as this are actually more unusual than aquamarine beryls, PARTICULARLY when they are glass-clear such as these two sensational tabular crystals! One of the beryls here is around 3 cm, and the other is just under 2 cm. Both crystals are in pristine condition; one of them has a bit of included matrix material along one edge. But that is not all this specimen has going for it: there is also a beautiful cream-colored crystal of albite, along with smaller white ones, intergrown with muscovite blades.
