This 10.5-gram Tourmaline crystal is exceptionally gemmy, and especially so for the famous Himalaya Mine! A very attractive and quite uniform medium-pink color (note: the pics are a lttle bit richer than the actual color), the crystal is gemmy throughout. The lower half is internally crazed, while the upper half is absolutely water-clear. The luster on the prism faces and the termination is smooth and glassy. And if all that wasn't enought, the Elbaite actually has a Muscovite cast that caps and drapes over the Tourmaline perfectly - as it was found in the pocket, loose, at the time of discovery in the 1980s by Bill Larson. Excellent and classic specimen from certainly the most famous Tourmaline locality in the United States, and justifiably so. This is an aesthetic and distinguished Himalaya thumbnail. Better in person. A unique piece, ex Bill Larson collection (former mine owner)
