Malachite often occurs as crystals only after replacement of a previous generation of Azurite. The Sounion #6 Mine, located within the venerable and historic Lavrion District, is noted for its Malachite pseudomorphs after Azurite. Here, the 1.3 cm Malachite sphere is about as good as you can get. The textured surface and deep green color complement each other beautifully, and it is set perfectly along the top edge of the matrix. Excellent and nearly complete 360 degrees around. There is even some bright, secondary Malachite on the back that adds interest and accent. This aesthetic, high-quality miniature was found in 2020.
