Milpillas Mine is now known for its fabulous azurites, of course, but it also had special and unique pockets of malachite during its short lifetime of specimen production. This is a particularly sculptural specimen of the intergrown malachite "velvet balls" style that came out in 2013 from the 1280 foot depth level of the mine. It is a beautiful example of primary malachite that has formed all by itself without the assist of replacing an earlier generation of azurite.
