Interesting and sharp Malachite pseudomorphs were an integral part of recent finds at the Sounion Mine #6 in Lavrion. Numerous species were pseudomorphed by the Malachite, and on this fine miniature, the Azurite has been altered and fully replaced by velvety green Malachite. The largest Malachite pseudo here is a substantial 1.3 cm, and it has a rich green color and textured surface. It, as well as smaller Malachite balls, rest on a bed of gemmy and lustrous Smithsonite microcrystals. Many have an olive-green color imparted by Malachite, and the sparkle and form provide an aesthetic complement to the larger Malachites. Found in 2020, this fascinating piece has an interesting and unique mineralogy to it.
