Malachites pseudomorphs after several minerals and crystal styles were an important segment of exciting, recent finds at the Sounion Mine #6 in Lavrion. Numerous species were pseudomorphed by the Malachite, and on this fine miniature it was primarily little balls of Azurite replaced by green Malachite; and these sit perched like dots atop rounded clusters of dark forest green Smithsonite. The Smithsonite crystals reached a substantial 1.1 cm, and they have an unusual olive-green color (presumably due to copper content). Found in 2020, this fascinating piece has an interesting and unique mineralogy to it.
