A sharp example of the so-called "tanzanite fluorites" that came out from around 2017-2020 from Fujian province in China. This is a classic style, looking back, for the isolated crystal on a bed of quartz needles. It is unusually dramatic in presentation, upright and fully formed, standing proudly on the white. This is the best possible contrast and, to me, much more refined and impactful than the common level of material on a gray rock matrix, or massive clusters of fluorite. I treasure this kind of geometric perfection in display, and to that end can live with a small amount of restoration (there are several spots, including a back corner, with minor restoration). This is well done by our own contract lab and is invisible to the eye (visible only under UV). The combination of shape, bevelled edges, color, gemminess, and the placement all combine to make this a surprise when it turned up out of an older Chinese dealer's stash last year. The crystal is 2.5 x 2.2 x 2.0 cm in size.
