This is a shockingly colorful specimen and is a truly unusual piece from old finds (1970s-early 1980s) at the famous Ahumada Mine in Los Lamentos. This is so different than the normal styles of caramel-like crystals in both color and in shape! Glassy and gemmy, golden-yellow wulfenite crystals, to 3 cm across, are partially draped by a white, sugarlike, sparkling, secondary deposit of calcite atop. The contrast is unique, and the white on yellow is quite showy! This is a rare style, a good size, and simply a beautiful specimen from anywhere, even if it is extra special as a surprise from this prolific old locality. A choice small cabinet sized specimen, this is complete all around and without damage. Without knowing the context of this collection or the history of the locality, you would perhaps never guess this was from los Lamentos. It comes from the noted Mexico-focused collection of dealer/collector Ruben Avila from Mexico City, who worked for decades as a scout for USA dealers while building his own collection rich in choice location pieces of this size and quality.
