From the famous collection of former district mine geologist Ross Lillie, this is a unique style of calcite from a single 1990 find, and just a beautiful and almost kinetic "sculptural' calcite that is unique from any locale. A custom lucite base is already fabricated, for upright display. It looks like a frozen swirl of caramel! RCL 2097 on the back with his notes from our collection catalog from purchasing thousands of his specimens when the collection sold around 2012: "Horizon: Rosiclare Level Orebody Name: Cross-Cut Orebody/ Mine Name: Minerva #1/ Company Name: Ozark-Mahoning Company, Mined Year: 1990. Ross obtained these directly from miners or himself in most cases, and so this kind of detailed location and date is irreplaceable and important, part of why the collection will always be the most important assembled in the heyday of this district.
