Here is a beautifully balanced combination specimen from Peru featuring very appealing Quartz crystals with a single brassy Pyrite crystal and several textbook Tetrahedrite crystals. The very prominent, doubly terminated Quartz crystal measures over 4.5 inches in length, with other Quartz crystals in this loose cluster varying between a 0.5 inch and 3 inches in length, some of which are also doubly terminated. The large Pyrite that occupies the middle of the piece has an overall cube shape, however, it is modified with dodecahedral forms and is strongly striated so it really stands out on the piece. Sharply formed Tetrahedrite crystals to just over an inch adorn the lower part of the Pyrite crystal and exhibit a subtle, yet attractive bronze and bluish patina. Both the color and textural contrasts on this great combination piece from Mundo Nuevo make it a very well-balanced and desirable piece. This is an older specimen and is from the private family collection of the Ramos family, dealers Elmer Ramos and his son Bruce Ramos, who is currently a force in Lima.
