This is one very fine Peruvian Pyrite from Huanzala, from a multigenerational family collection of the Ramos family of dealers there. It is a sharp cluster of cubes with noticeable pyritohedral modifications, or influences, to the crystals, especially the two larger ones that measure 3 and 2.7 cm across, respectively. The two big crystals are incredibly bright and lustrous with fine striations on all the faces and some of the cube faces bow out slightly due to the pyritohedron modifications. The crystals are slightly intergrown and are canted slightly relative to one another. There are several small Pyrite clusters strategically placed around the two big crystals for added aesthetic effect and these range in size from a few millimeters to just over 1 cm. Whitish to grayish, granular Quartz makes up the small amount of matrix around and on the bottom of the piece. GORGEOUS and much better in person! This is NOT just another Peruvian pyrite. It is something special, worthy of being kept back for decades - which it was.
