Turquoise nodule with Pyrite
Cananea, Cananea Mun., Sonora, Mexico
Small Cabinet, 7.8 x 4.1 x 2.2 cm
Ex. Gary Weaver
SOLD

This is a relatively large and alluring (and very lightly polished) nugget of Turquoise containing disseminated Pyrite from somewhere near the Turquoise after Fluorapatite pseudomorph occurrence at Cananea, Mexico. This nugget is a rich Turquoise blue compared to the light colored Turquoise found in the pseudomorphs and is incredibly unusual for the association of the conspicuous, 1.0 to 5.0 mm Pyrite crystals distributed within the nugget. This association is rare for worldwide Turquoise occurrences, and to get a beautiful specimen of it is even more so. There is some whitish mottling within the recesses of the piece that add color and contrast. Pyrite is moderately abundant within the nugget and adds some heft to the piece. Aesthetic and unusual! Comes with a custom engraved acrylic base to mount it vertically as shown.
