Amethyst on Quartz
XinFeng County, Jiangxi Prov., China
Cabinet, 9.9 x 6.2 x 5.0 cm
SOLD
For whatever reasons, somehow amethyst seems particularly rare in China amidst the wealth of other species. This is a very attractive piece, regardless of locale, though. Rising aesthetically from a flat cluster of lustrous milky quartz, is a cluster of doubly-terminated, translucent amethyst crystals to 3.4 cm in length. The color of the amethyst is a light purple hue, very bright and lively. Nearly pristine with just a few very tiny dings, on some tips. We do not have a mine association on this one, and it seems it may be a one-off small find in this mineral-rich county.
