I was simply astounded when I saw this specimen, and I still am, to tell the truth. It was well-known that Roebling had an extensive collection, but this is ridiculously exotic! Japanese dealers with whom I consulted tell me that this one even outperforms anything they have seen in museums there, and that it is probably 125-150 years in age. It is, miraculously, complete all around and very nearly pristine. It is shown here barely cleaned (just with ultrasonic water and not with physical means), as I thought it interesting to not remove all the pocket dirt from the cracks to better convey the 3-dimensionality of the crystals as well as imply the age of the piece. I can not convey in pictures how impressive this specimen is, in person. NOTE: I would prefer not to mail this piece, due to the inherent fragility of large hoppered pyro crystals.
