A fine historic Cuprite/Malachite specimen from one of the most classic localities in all of Europe. Typically the Cuprite specimens from Chessy are found in single "floater" crystals, but this piece is an actual group of sharp, very well defined octahedra (and modified octahedra) of deep red Cuprite altering to mint-green Malachite. The crystal faces have a small amount of luster, and are amazingly smooth for the age of the specimen. This specimen was mined in the early 1800s, as noted on Rich Kosnar's label that accompanies the piece, so it's nearly 200 years old. Ex. Richard Kosnar Collection.
