This is a historic rarity, a specimen from the early 1900s of cuprite crystals that have been replaced by malachite while preserving the sharp original shape of the cuprites. Rarely seen in such clusters, or any crystals beyond a nice single, this is a particularly good display specimen. It sits nicely, and is complete all around. The large crystal on top is approximately 2 cm and is the most sharp. Similar specimens were found in old collections dating back to the early 1900s and are documented well. This particular piece turned up without labels in a collection in Arizona, so one would think it was bought at a Tucson show long ago from a European.
