A large and vertical 16 cm calcite is the obvious highlight here, standing straight up as we would display it for a huge visual impact! The crystal is complete all around and very thick and robust, with classic highlights of translucency and rich amber colors on edges and especially at the termination: crystals of this size, at 16 cm, are rarely gemmy or even translucent at all, and so this is very good in that regard, and better if backlit well. It is complete all around and nearly pristine, with only a few inconsequential dings here and there at some tips. Unlike many large vertical singles, this displays well because it is wreathed at its base by associated smaller calcites and a little fluorite as well, so that it can stand in a base, and fully display the crystal with all terminations showing off in the air. We obtained this and others here long ago from the long held private estate collection of Houston dealers Consie and Dalton Prince, who sold so much of this material in the 1980s-90s.
