Red Beryl from the famed Utah location in the Wah Wah Mountains is simply unique among all beryls, for the rarity and the color both. This specimen has strong saturated color, and features a dramatic crystal in a cluster, perched nicely on a well trimmed matrix. Most specimens lack one or more of those attributes. The fact that the red beryl crystal nestles in a cluster adds welcome accent and authenticity, as well - and is highly unusual as they tend to form as singles far separated from one another. This is from the 1980s production, from mine owner Rex Harris. Dave Wilber, who worked occasionally for Bill Larson as well, helped sell specimens for Harris in that time. This crystal is 1.7 cm tall and 8 x 9 mm across and deep. Note: It was repaired cleanly, by most standards, by the miners at the midway point; and admittedly the repair could be done better and invisibly to modern standards in a modern lab. However, we (and Bill Larson as previous owner) have not done so as there is a certain authenticity and antique quality to the piece, as is. It has a balance of size and display impact, a crystal of good size, crazy color, and great overall contrast, making it one of our favorites among recent specimens we have seen come back to market.
