GEM23-16
Beryl var. Emerald on Quartz
Panjshir, Afghanistan
Thumbnail, 2.4 x 1.8 x 1.5 cm
SOLD

Without a doubt, this is a superb Afghan Emerald thumbnail specimen for quality, regardless of size. It features two primary, very gem, sumptuous emerald green crystals. They are formed in a V-shape and they are both, remarkably, doubly-terminated ; and that makes this a floater cluster of emerald and quartz. The stunning, glassy, super colorful crystals are 2.1 and 2.0 cm in length, respectively. There are a few subordinate Emerald crystals in association for added aesthetics. For ultimate composition, the Emeralds are set on a cluster of vitreous, pale smoky Quartz crystals that average just under a centimeter in size. This Afghan locality has turned out far fewer Emeralds than the famous Colombian ones and specimens are rarely seen for sale because most are sold for cutting and carving. This artistic thumbnail sits perfectly on its own for dramatic display.
