This stunning matrix proustite is significant not only for the beauty of the crystals, the quality of the spray, and the color but also for the fact that it is, as so rarely seen, contrasted against a nice sparkling white matrix of snow-white calcite. The large crystal stands just over 2 cm up from the cluster, the whole cluster of which is nearly 4 cm, making for a very good balance of size to the matrix and for a full competition miniature size overall as a specimen. In fact, it was in the competitive miniatures collection of Kyle Kevorkian until recently. It is thought to have been mined around 2019 in a very small find, most of which were isolated single crystals, and a few flat laying crystals on matrix. This is exceptional for any matrix proustite and although similar German origin examples exist (though usually on uglier matrix, or off matrix), it is certainly of the highest level of quality for anything we are aware of from Morocco.
