A pair of deep emerald-green, cuboctahedral Fluorite crystals are dominant on this miniature, and paired with associated sulfide species. Small dark brown Sphalerite crystals and brassy yellow Pyrite crystals accent this candy-like green cluster from new finds at Cerro de Pasco in Peru. The two lovely, rich green Fluorites measure 4 and 2.5 cm across, respectively; and both have dominant octahedral faces with minor cube modifications at the tips that make them more interesting to the eye. The Fluorites have almost a resinous luster and are are almost completely transparent as you can see right into the crystals in some orientations. The Sphalerite crystals are scattered near the bottom of the piece in a recessed area in the Fluorite and range in size from 1.5 to 3.5 mm. Pyrite is almost restricted to the bottom and partial periphery of the piece as 1.5 to 5 mm, striated pyritohedrons. This is an attractive and well-balanced Fluorite-Sulfide combo from Peru, perhaps one of the better miniatures that came out in 2021-22.
