Outstanding combination piece of two common minerals, somehow mesmerizing in combination together, and from the storied Panasqueira Mines in Portugal. Completely gemmy, and unusually tabular, the Quartz crystal rises majestically above a matrix that is densely populated with 2 mm, tan Muscovites. There are even long, tapering Muscovite inclusions within the Quartz that resemble vapor trails, which is pretty cool on several levels. The sheer quality and simple, but great, aesthetics of contrasting species make this small cabinet specimen a true treasure from this old locality. As a bonus, one elongated muscovite sheath seems to encase a single elongated crystal of black schorl tourmaline, that spears up to the left, within the crystal of quartz, as a visual bonus on close inspection.
