The Himalaya Mine is known for pink to red tourmalines, with a certain degree of gemminess (translucency) to them, but only rarely gives up really truly gem transparent crystals such as this. This is a complete, gorgeous, sparkling crystal of 5.9 grams. Classic Himalaya pink color, but unusually beautiful. It is a fine thumbnail tourmaline from the mine, with a luster and brightness more typical of Afghani material. This looks like material from the mid-1900s era of mining but could be an aberrant fine specimen from later years.
