This is a maroon-purple colored, flat-terminated tourmaline that came out of Goma, but looks nothing like our others on display here, making it appealing to me as a collector. Acquired at the 2022 Tucson show from a later find at goma than the other tourmalines showed here, this unusual pocket seems to have come out later and is VERY different from the 2021 production. This is an unusual piece compared to the rest of the elbaites from the parcel we acquired - there is no green or yellow color whatsoever, when almost every other 2020-21 Goma tourmaline has at least one of those colors present even in small portions! It is completely maroon-red throughout the crystal, going from a darker purpley maroon-colored saturation at the base to a lighter pink at the termination when lit well. The mass is 168.9 grams. This is an exceptional, impactful, sparkling crystal. What we like is not only the color, but that it is more lively than most crystals of this shape and style normally are from other localities, retaining the special "goma glimmer" of quality.
