Mount Mica Quarry, Paris, Oxford Co., Maine, USA
Thumbnail, 2.9 x 0.9 x 0.6 cm
Ex. Shields and Frances Flynn

A very old Mount Mica piece, perhaps dating back to the Hamlin days of the late 1800s, with a classic style and stunning gemminess seen only in those older specimens. Although the termination is broken (hence the low price), the piece can be tilted back so that is not the first sight, and the gemminess and elongated beauty shows first. Any old classic from Maine that is this beautiful, even with a damaged tip, is worth showing off. From the major East Coast suite of Shields Flynn's thumbnail collection
