This is a totally different style of Tourmaline from most Brazilian tourmalines, and recognizable immediately as an old classic from Barra da Salinas, also famous for scepters where the green skin dissolves away, leaving green sceptres atop pink cores as stalks. This, however, is intact - although you can see slight traces of the dissolution of the outer coating at the very base, which results in sceptering. It is a startling multicolored, perfectly terminated, gemmy to translucent crystal: The bottom two-thirds of this alluring crystal is a translucent pink-red color transitioning to a relatively abrupt 3 mm, creamy green, turbid layer and then the top third has a pyramidal termination that is an vibrant and gemmy christmas tree green. This is an unusual color zoning style from the pegmatites here. This beauty has a mass of 65 grams. From an old tourmaline collection we obtained, put together in the 1990s from older classics.
