It's hard to imagine a more interesting and appealing Bournonite-Quartz specimen in this size range, than this balanced combination piece from the Yaogangxian Mine. Two sharp textbook, doubly-terminated Bournonite crystals are perched adroitly on a stout, doubly terminated Quartz crystal for maximum aesthetics. The two, bright silver-gray metallic Bournonites are slightly intergrown at their ends forming a wide V-shape and measure 3 and 2.5 cm long, respectively. They are brilliantly metallic, lightly striated parallel to their length and contrast nicely with the robust, milky Quartz crystal. The Quartz crystal has a typical Quartz pyramidal termination at one end and has a more complex termination at the other. There are also a few, smaller Quartz crystals that protrude out of the sides of the larger Quartz crystal. This piece has great balance and composition. It is a truly special example among so many that are more "brutal" in appearance, or lack the combination of both shape and luster. It is actually more bright in person than a video can convey. From remarkable finds remaining the old stopes of the bournonite levels in this famous old mine, and found circa 2020.
