Cavansite with Stilbite
Wagholi Quarries, Wagholi, Pune Dist., Maharashtra, India
Cabinet, 9.8 x 5.6 x 4.6 cm
SOLD

A very aesthetic specimen of deep blue cavansite balls that are very dramatically perched on matrix of tiny scintillating stilbite crystals, with some larger isolated accents of white stilbite. This is old material an older style! This piece includes 4 significant cavansite balls, ranging from 1cm to 1.7cm. The large "caterpillar" growth is 3.6 cm long. The stilbite generation with large crystals reach over 1 cm, with a dreamy, almost-metallic luster. While cavansite was originally found in Oregon in the 1960s, the world's best and most recognizable examples of the species are now accredited to India. Although many have come out, specimens of this level with good, isolated clusters on contrasting matrix, continue to be rare and mostly come from older discoveries.
