This is a robust and attractive deep-blue Aquamarine Shigar Valley in Pakistan. It is an intensely-colored and robust, sky-blue Aquamarine crystal that is four inches long and an inch and a three-quarters wide with a super glassy luster. It is essentially GEM and transparent throughout with a few faint, veiled, almost apparition-like inclusions for added subtlety and aesthetics, and just leaps out on a shelf compared to most others for the combination of clarity/color/shape and size. This dramatic Aqua displays both first and second order prism faces (meaning, the more you look at it, the more you see subtle complexity and patterning); and has a flat, but complexly etched termination that is sparkly so it looks like sugar on top. Actually, it is a floater: the bottom of the crystal has been etched as well, suggesting it may have had an interesting pocket history in separating from its host matrix early on, and still in solution in the pocket while finishing growth! The Hindu Kush has produced some great Aquamarines since India slammed into Pakistan 100 million years ago and created these conditions, and this one is really good for a single gem crystal!
