This is certainly not your typical Quartz crystal, whether it's from Brazil or anywhere else! It's kind of a macabre looking crystal that looks like the central part has been eaten away by something alien! It's actually quite beautiful and incredibly interesting as it has a super glassy luster and is water-clear with some brown Goethite staining whose color that carries through the clear crystal everywhere. The dissolution process that affected the central part resulted in a fabulous texture consisting of scores of tiny, glistening Quartz crystals around the edge of the opening, and surfaces on the interior and parts of the exterior exhibit abundant parallel growth features complete with prism faces and points! The interior of the crystal looks like an almost "negative" crystal formed from the etching process that adds to the unique aesthetics of the piece. A very artistic Quartz crystal from the Diamantina area of Brazil. Old material from the multigenerational family collection of the late Rolando Gioia and his son Bruno, also a current gem dealer in Brazil.
