An old classic from the mining heyday of Portugal; a beautiful and large, tabular, parallel grouping of Arsenopyrite from Panasqueira. It is a composite and almost perfectly parallel grouping of prismatic, silvery metallic Arsenopyrite crystals with excellent, chisel-like terminations and abundant, yet subtle, striations parallel to their length. This results in cascading, scintillating reflectivity off the piece that can only be appreciated in the video and in person. The Arsenopyrite crystals are accented by patches of bright, brassy yellow, sparkling, less than 1 mm Pyrite crystals for great contrast and visual effect. The left side of the piece has mounded, fine-grained, spherical aggregates of Muscovite crystals that mostly cover a sidecar grouping of Arsenopyrite crystals in that area as well as a portion of the left side large Arsenopyrite group. A uniquely beautiful and well-composed combination piece from the Panasqueira suite of the late Dr. Art Soregaroli.
